Come to the Brickhouse Window
There are people in our community, only minutes from our storefront window... that need help.
Our community is so incredible at lifting up those that need help but sometimes... we just don’t know how.
How do we find those that are truly struggling? Poverty can be hidden right in front of you.
We just heard of a mom who didn’t send her child to the first week of school because she was embarrassed that she couldn’t afford the school supplies.
We know her. And, we had no idea this was happening.
How do we know what they actually need? How do we give without offending?
Maybe there is a guy who just landed a job, but he needs a gas card to put fuel in the truck to get to work this week.
Maybe there is a mom who needs help with groceries this week so that she can send her kids to school with a sandwich and a fruit snack.
Maybe there is a Grandparent who has been wearing the same, threadbare, winter jacket for the last 18 years because it’s more important to clothe their growing grandkids that they are raising… on money that they had barely been able to save for their own retirement.
Maybe that young immigrant couple is about to lose their rental contract because minimum wage is incredibly hard to survive on.
Maybe there is a senior out there who is only one bag of dog food away from having to surrender their dog to a shelter.
Maybe there is a family that has absolutely no money at all for Christmas gifts under the tree for their two kids.
They probably don’t have a decorated tree either.
For so many of us, these are items, occasions, and situations that we truly don’t even think about. We jump in our reliable vehicles, run around and buy gifts at the mall, throw extravagant parties, go out for drinks with friends... we give Christmas gifts to our children.
There are so many that can’t do ANY of this.
Can you imagine feeling the weight of this heaviness?
Our community is pretty incredible when it comes to giving and we would like to offer up our Brickhouse Window as a place where our community can truly come together… and create some real magic!
Please use our website to submit a request for help for someone that you know who is struggling… or to submit a request for help for your own family if you are feeling like you are living in a crisis.
Tell us what is happening, and how the community may be able to help.
We will fill our storefront window with these anonymous stories, and images... and then we will invite our customers and community members to stop by and see if they can help in any way.
Come to the Brickhouse Window
Maybe there will be a story that speaks directly to your heart.
Take it off the window, head out to do some shopping, wrap up your gift, write a note if you would like to… and then bring it back to our store for delivery on December 12, 2024.
Perhaps we will end up with a gas gift card, or two, to help that guy get to the job he just landed.
Maybe, we will create some real Christmas magic, together.
Maybe, just maybe... we will be able to lift up our community to a higher level, together.
At the end of your life, all you can take with you is what you have given away.
We will see you at the Brickhouse Window,
~ Amanda & Trevor Wilhauk
