Deborah
Day 1 of Giving Back: December 1, 2019
This is Deborah.
When I first met her, she was trying to cross the street. To be more specific, she was holding up traffic for what seemed like five minutes. Trying to walk across the road, within the marked crosswalk, and she was literally only moving by inches at a time.
Inches.
This is not very fast when there are four lanes of vehicles watching you.
Pizza for Frazzled parents
Day 2 of Giving Back: December 2, 2019
We are not sure how it is in your home, but we can say that in ours…
We are insanely busy!
It’s just a crazy phase in our life… owning a business and having four kids in competitive sports. A friend looked at my phone calendar the other day and straight up said “That gives me anxiety just looking at all of that!”
Our health
Day 3 of Giving Back: December 3, 2019
Let’s talk about health for a moment. Our bodies. Our minds. The whole package.
Your body is your most priceless possession, do you take care of it?
Trevor was starting to feel very uncomfortable with his weight. What can I say?!?! We like to drink beer and eat hot wings all summer!
Breakfast Mob
Day 4 of Giving Back: December 4, 2019
When the waitress came over to take our breakfast order the very first time we sat down in this restaurant I couldn’t believe it.
"You work in every single restaurant that we go to!! How can you possibly work in so many different places?"
They are Filipino who have worked endless hours in other peoples kitchens ands serving hundreds of thousands of guests over the years.
They had a dream. They took a risk. A huge risk. And they are doing it!
Johnny
Day 5 of Giving Back: December 5, 2019
Johnny had only arrived into Canada the week before we met him! It snowed on his very first day of work which was pretty cool to watch him see. We literally handed him a shovel so he could have his first real Canadian experience and he seriously had no idea what to do lol… he just kept looking up at the sky in amazement.
Our Senior Citizen Friends
Day 6 of Giving Back: December 6, 2019
Sitting at my desk one day a few weeks ago, the phone rings. A elderly lady, with a strong German accent calls.
“I faz jus vandering if you could take us on dat bus again to see dos lights?”
Ohmygosh.
She is referring to one of our very first 12 Days of Giving, three years ago!
We hope you win the lottery
Day 7 of Giving Back: December 7, 2019
This morning Scarlett and Hazen put Merry Christmas cards full of Lottery and scratch tickets on the windshields of vehicles that were parked in Handicap Parking stalls across town.
We so hope you win!! How cute is this picture, right?!?!
I will share with you what was literally happening minutes before I took it ...
Skate with Santa
Day 8 of Giving Back: December 8, 2019
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus!!
Santa Trevor showed up at our community skate today at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre!!
She calls them The Monster
Day 9 of Giving Back: December 9, 2019
She will say things like “The Monster is back.” or “The Monster was here last night.”
When we presented this gift to her, she just sat there with silent tears streaming down her cheeks.
She didn’t say a single word for a few minutes. She just stared across the table… with more tears falling.
911 what is your emergency?
Day 10 Giving Back: December 10, 2019
Could you ask that question?
Could you be the one talking a child through an emergency? Could you listen to the panic of a parent calling in with an unresponsive child like we had to a few years ago? Could you remain calm and put calls through to the fire department, the paramedics, the police department, and the peace officers?
These guys do, and they are amazing at their job.
Date night with Daddy
Day 11 of Giving Back: December 11, 2019
Be your daughter’s first love.
Take her on dates. Pull her chair out for her. Listen to her chatter. Show her respect. Treat her well. Let her dress up and exclaim to her how beautiful she is
Set that bar high and she will never settle for anything less.
Bringing Joy
Day 12 of Giving Back: December 12, 2019
So...this day was so crazy it’s hard to write about it all!!
It’s our last day of the 12 Days of Giving... and I wanted it to be amazing!! Trevor had NO IDEA that he was about to be dressed up like the Grinch!
